MOTHER AND DAUGHTER

She's one of the famous italian art collectors, and her daughter is retraceing her traces, but choosing new people. The result: Area B, new maison d'art in Milan, opened by the 27 years old Isabella Tupone inside the art gallery of the mother, Enza Labella. In the Balbo's space, you can find works of Warhol, Dalì next to Vanni Cuoghi e Siva and other "next to be" from the contemporary art. Save the date: from the 7th of April , Jeremyville's solo show, Toys, street arts and performance with a unique diktat: the colour

Over and Over
(a catalog of hand drawn patterns)

Following on from his successful book on hand drawn type called Hand Job, that I saw at the MOCA store in in LA, Mike Perry brings us another great book, that I'm really proud to be involved in.

I have 6 pages in there, along with Stefan Marx, Kimou Meyer (Grotesk), Yokoland, Gluekit, Struggle Inc., Deanne Cheuk, Marco Cibola, Ben Weeks, Jason Gnewikow, Mike Perry, Justin Fines, Yuko Shimizu, and a really talented list of others.

The book is definitely worth having in your design book collection, as it shows a diversity of hand created work and how it can push the boundaries of what is possible within the realm of patterns and all over graphics.

You can get it at Mike's site below. Awesome work Mike.

Interview with Scott Patt, Creative Director of Converse

Are there any designs in the project you particularly enjoy?

Wow, that's tough. There are so many great pieces of art. To name a few out of the 100: Jeremyville, Camilla Engman and Megan Whitmarsh's designs are graphically beautiful. Dr. Romanelli and Tim Liles's designs are just plain smart! The most directly connected and impacting is definitely Michael White's tribute to his late brother Dondi White, a founding pioneer of graffiti writing from the late '70s and '80s.

I'm in a new book called Grab Bag Book, by Ethan Bodnar.

How It Works (taken from Ethan's site):
Artists from around the world have been invited to contribute to the book. Each of them will receive a creative task picked at random the Grab Bag. It could be a photo digitally manipulated photo from their youth. Or it could be an illustrated editorial about anything. They might have to design a building or illustrate what they had for breakfast. The only rule is that your creative task can’t be from your field of work or your area of expertise because the book is about learning to do new things with your creativity and exploring new ways of expressing yourself. Furthermore, each artist will have the option to also contribute a piece of their work that comes from the area of expertise. It could be something already created or something made specifically for the book.

my creative task was:
Represent Statistics other than through a graph or other conventional means

Graniph New artist TADO (above)
(interview by Graniph Sydney)
www.tado.co.uk

TADO is Mike and Katie, two very hardworking people who do graphic design, illustration, animation, toy design, and a bit of everything in between. They are based in Sheffield UK, enjoy eating ice cream, and playing with their dogs. The pair work across a huge range of projects for both huge and tiny clients, from logos, animation and web design through to customised cars, designer toys and homeware! The TADO website is a lot of fun, so remember to pay it a visit. Below, Mike and Katie kindly spent a few moments with us...

Q: Five words/images to describe yourself.
Excitable, colourful, sleepy, happy, hungry.

Q: Where do your ideas come from?
We have no idea! We don't really do any specific research as such - we just take in stuff day to day, all the time in a subconscious way. Then something will pop back out again as an idea for a piece later down the line.

Q: What would you be if you weren't an illustrator?
Mike would probably be a mechanic of some kind - he loves to tinker with stuff. Katie is convinced she would be a baker!

Q: Have you been to Sydney? What's your image of Sydney?
Neither of us have been to Sydney! :( We've met a few people from Sydney before and they've all been very nice!

Our image of Sydney would be sunny, with happy folk drinking beer and wearing lots of Graniph and Jeremyville t-shirts! :D There'd be koalas as big as people too. And kangaroos - they'd be even bigger! Oh, and probably some noisy drunk British people on their travels!
graniph Sydney!
The cool graniph concept from Japan has come to Sydney! I have a t-shirt in there, below, called 'Just Keep Movin' which is a graphic I had in a Colette group show in Paris. Thanks to the art director Melanie at Graniph for commissioning me for the Graniph project.

Visit the Sydney store and buy your Jeremyville t-shirt! say hi to Ben Hsu there, really cool guy, he and Jane set up the whole store! awesome job guys, AWESOME. Ben is of Via Alley fame, the influential store in East Sydney.

At left is the latest interview with new Graniph artists TADO, the uber talented Mike and Katie,
who also mention Jeremyville in their interview! thanks! Check out the TADO designs at graniph too.

'Pop Subversion' group show, Brooklyn, USA.

Feb 8th thru Mar 2nd, 2008

Opening Reception: Friday, February 8th, 7:00PM-9:00PM

49 Bogart Street Unit 1G, Buzzer 22
Brooklyn, New York
United States
11206

Here's what Ad Hoc Gallery wrote:

Pop Subversion contains a healthy dose of both established and emerging artists from the realms of street art, pop surrealism, lowbrow, illustration, print making, tattoo and so much more. Through this group exhibition, promising young artists will have the chance to exhibit side by side with some of the more established artists in these fields. This mixture will allow the viewer to experience a plethora of varying styles and techniques rising out of this powerful New Contemporary movement in art. At the center of this exhibition lies the original artwork of Juxtapoz founder (and quite arguably the 'father' of this New Contemporary movement in art) Robert Williams!

Participating artists include: aiko, lisa alisa, lisa bloodgood, john breiner, wayne coe, molly crabapple, brendan danielsson, camilla d'errico, elbowtoe, ian fagan, fawn fruits, gil, joshua hagler, aaron horkey, kenichi hoshine, jeremyville, sarah joncas, lady pink, benjamin lacombe, lauralee, kris lewis, brian life, francesco locastro, carlos nine, pagan, peripheral media projects, jenn porreca, martina secondo russo, chris stain, robert steel, elisabeth timpone, connie wang, joe vaux, robert williams, jaeran won, genevive zacconi

I Love Tourism, BLM bookshop, inaugura l' 08.12.2007

potete inviare le proposte all' indirizzo: show@ilovetourismshop.com

Fra i numerosi designer potete trovare:
Abake, Mauro Arrighi, Tim Biskup, Brunno Jahara, Studio Camuffo, François Chalet, Collettivo Rapido, Oooh!Design, Eboy, Fabrica, Freitag, Gaia Zebellin, James Jarvis, Jeremyville, Josh Petherick, Korner Union, Misstake, Nic Hess, Offumac, Ox Studio, Pierluca Galvan, Quarzia, Raffaella Brunzin, Andy Rementer, Silvia Silvan, Amos Toys, Fabio Viscogliosi, Wunderlab… e ovviamente Imegadito.

Say No To Limits, Beijing
Curated by All Rights Reserved, HK. Host: Li Ning.
at 798 Arts District, Beijing.

I was invited to be in this show in Beijing that features KAWS, James Jarvis, Kuntzel et Deygas (invited by Colette), Delta, Mr A, Hidekichi Shigemoto, Phunk Studio, Deanne Cheuk, Jeremyville, Serge Seidlitz, Buro Destruct, Demo Design, and more. Click on the 'everybody says no to limits' section on the site.

The brief was to insert your design into the 'No' section of the template, and the 'Limits' section, using your own iconography, so that it reads 'Say No to Limits'.
